Boston College is still a couple of weeks away from beginning its summer football training camp and the Eagles are already down two wide receivers.
BC football coach Frank Spaziani confirmed this morning that wide receivers Clyde Lee and Shakim Phillips are no longer in school.
“Clyde had some academic issued and Shakim is transferring,’’ said Spaziani
Neither receiver played significant roles last season. Lee, a 6-0 foot, 190 pound sophomore, played two seasons for the Eagles and played 10 games with 17 receptions last season with one touchdown as a spot receiver.
Phillips, a 6-foot-2 inch 203 pound sophomore, played even less, appearing in only four games with one reception.
“”It does cause some depth problems,’’ said Spaziani, who hopes that Colin Larmond Jr. is signicantly recovered from the knee injury which sidelined him last season. Going into the season, Bobby Swigert and Ifanyi Momah are projected as the starting wide receivers, depending on how quickly Larmond progresses in his comeback
