Rettig ready to show his skills
Boston College offensive coordinator Kevin Rogers said at media day this afternoon that he is placed with the progress of sophomore quarterback Chase Rettig and the rest of the offense. But Rogers said it was too early in the process to make any determinations.
"We're getting more players back (WR Colin Larmond Jr. and running back Montel Harris) who weren't available in the spring,'' said Rogers, who took over as the OC from Gary Tranquill this season. "Chase is coming along quickly, but I tell him what I tell all QBs must do well in. "Third down conversion, red zone and (success in) two minutes. That's the key.''
Rogers will get his first up close and personal look at how Rettig does with all of his assets tomorrow night when BC conducts its first scrimmage of training camp.

BC actually recruited three St. X players this spring, Duggan, Graham Stewart and Steve Daniels. Bu Stewart de-committed and went to Florida, while Daniels did not have the grades and may re-apply at BC for January admission….Players in full pads today, first scrimmage is tonight…Former BC QB Brian St. Pierre will be WEEI-s new sideline reporter this season....With QB Josh Bordner still sidelined with back problems, veteran Dave Shinskie is likely to move into the spot as Rettig's back-up.
