Not dead yet:
I thought Robbie Hummel looked like his two knee surgeries had diminished him as a player, and they may have to some extent, but he was still terrific Thursday scoring 24 points including the game-winning three-pointer as Purdue beat Iona 91-90 in a thrilling game in the Puerto Rico tournament. Wish nothing but the best for Hummel. I still think Iona will have a great season, possibly make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Momo Jones, the transfer from Arizona, just didn’t execute in the final possession. He had given Iona a two-point lead in the previous possession before Hummel hit his three-pointer. The Gaels are going to win a lot of games.

An actual winning streak:
Fran McCaffrey is having his first good stretch at Iowa as his Hawkeyes beat Northern Illinois 88-55 for the team’s first three-game winning streak since December, 2008.

Another streak:
UMass is 3-0 after beating NJIT, the Minutemen have an intriguing matchup with BC at Conte Forum Monday night.
