UMass picked fifth in Atlantic 10 preseason basketball poll

The UMass men's basketball team was predicted to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 in a preseason poll of coaches and media that was announced Thursday. UMass point guard Chazz Williams was selected as preseason all-league player.

Saint Joseph's narrowly edged Saint Louis as the pick to win the league, with Virginia Commonweath third and Temple fourth.

The other first-team players were Kevin Dillard of Dayton, Chris Gaston of Fordham, Kwamain Mitchell of Saint Louis and Khalif Wyatt of Temple.

The remaining order of the team poll was Butler, LaSalle, Dayton, Xavier, Richmond, Saint Bonaventure, Charlotte, George Washington, Fordham, Rhode Island and Duquesne.
