Kentucky asserts itself: Bingo Long and the Traveling All-Stars were actually an underdog (really, they were getting points) in Oxford, Miss. Tuesday night. After a close first half, reality set in for Mississippi. Kentucky’s talent overwhelmed the Rebs. Ole Miss had a nine-game winning streak and was off to the best start in school history. Pretty disappointing for their fans, most of whom are temporary visitors.

Marshall Henderson, Ole Miss’ junior college transfer who’s got a great shot and a highly visible, emotional personality, came up short. He gravitated to the corners and didn’t force himself into the game. Let’s see if this is the confidence-building road victory that could propel Kentucky’s talented but erratic bunch to great things. Everett’s Nerlens Noel had a big impact on the game, blocking 12 shots. However, I don’t like his demeanor or his weak offensive game.

Other games:
North Carolina 82, BC 70: It gets frustrating, but the Eagles are still a victim of their youth.

Virginia 58, NC State 55: NC State just can’t put a string of games together. This was a winnable game and the Wolfpack just didn’t make the plays.

Tennessee 58, Vandy 57: The Vols blew a big lead but hung on. A really good win

Indiana State 68, Wichita State 55: The Fightin’ Larry Legends are a tough unit, took charge of this game early and never let go. It ended a 20-game homecourt winning streak for the Shockers. The BCS-centric won’t acknowledge this, but it’s not a terrible loss.

Minnesota 84, Nebraska 65: The Gophers finally reach dry land and exhale.

Ohio State 58, Wisconsin 49: A wrist-wrestling contest and the home team won.
