Marlborough’s Mike Marini in the right place at the right time for Bentley football

Mike Marini, a senior linebacker on the Bentley University football team, made the most of his first varsity start on Sept. 20 when the Falcons came back to defeat visiting Northeast-10 Conference opponent LIU Post, 38-24. With the score tied at 24, the former Marlborough High star recovered a fumble at the Post 38-yard line that led to Bentley’s go-ahead drive. Early in the game, a Marini interception led to a field goal.

“It felt good to be out there and make plays,’’ said Marini, a two-sport athlete at Marlborough High, where he was captain and MVP on the lacrosse team. “On the fumble recovery I was in the right place at the right time. I had been blitzing, and when the ball came loose I was already in their backfield.’’
