Jeff Terrell scored on a 4-yard run in overtime and Tom Methvin stopped a 2-point conversion attempt to give Princeton a 27-26 win over Colgate yesterday in Hamilton, N.Y.
Princeton (4-0) got the ball first in overtime and took a 27-20 lead. Colgate (2-3) answered with a 26-yard touchdown reception by Jordan Scott. The Raiders opted for the win with a 2-point conversion, but Mike Saraceno was stopped in the backfield by Methvin.
A 1-yard touchdown run by Scott with 1:36 remaining gave Colgate a 13-10 halftime lead.
Rob Toresco took back the lead for Princeton when he scored from a yard out late in the third quarter. The Raiders briefly regained the lead 20-17 on Saraceno's second touchdown run. Connor Louden connected on a 34-yard field goal with 4:02 to play to tie the game.
Yale 26, Dartmouth 14 -- At Hanover, N.H., Mike McLeod scored two touchdowns and ran for 198 yards as the Elis handed the Big Green their eighth straight loss.
Yale (3-1, 2-0 Ivy League) converted every third-down play until a lone punt late in the fourth quarter. Yale led, 13-0, at the half and put down a brief uprising by Dartmouth (0-4, 0-2) in the third quarter, when Mike Fritz passed for two touchdowns to make it 19-14.
Yale stormed back, marching 89 yards in 14 plays with McLeod making a key 25-yard reception on a third-down pass from Matt Polhemus. He then ran 9 yards for the final TD of the day.
Penn 34, Bucknell 24 -- Robert Irvin threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns as the Quakers (3-1) prevailed in Lewisburg, Pa.
Columbia 24, Iona 0 -- Craig Hormann threw for 215 yards and a touchdown as the Lions (3-1) defeated the Gaels (1-5) in New York in the schools' first meeting.![]()
