Although it won't be officially released for a few days, Boston College's football schedule is set for the 2008 season, with seven home games and two early open dates that will help coach Jeff Jagodzinski and offensive coordinator Steve Logan break in an offense led by a new starting QB.

Barring last-minute changes, the schedule looks like this:

Aug. 30 at Kent State

Sept. 6 vs. Georgia Tech

Sept. 13 open

Sept. 20 vs. Central Florida

Sept. 27 vs. Rhode Island

Oct. 4 at Florida State

Oct. 11 open

Oct. 18 vs. Virginia Tech

Oct. 25 vs. Clemson

Nov. 1 at Wake Forest

Nov. 8 vs. Notre Dame

Nov. 15 at North Carolina

Nov. 22 vs. Maryland

Nov. 29 at North Carolina St.

The Eagles also secured the services of Logan for one more year. Alabama coach Nick Saban called Logan to see if he would be interested in running the Tide offense in place of Major Applewhite, who returned to his alma mater, Texas.

"Alabama did talk to Steve," said BC athletic director Gene DeFilippo, "but Steve, Jags, and I talked, and Steve has decided to stay here."

Although nothing is official until his contract expires in June, Logan can expect a boost in pay when he signs another one-year deal this summer.

While BC has maintained that it will not get into a bidding war with Southeastern Conference schools that pay coordinators anywhere from $200,000 per season to well above $300,000, Logan should fall within that range.

Football
Tony Temple announced he will give up on any further appeals for an extra year of eligibility at Missouri and get ready for the NFL draft. Temple, who rushed for a Cotton Bowl record 281 yards and four touchdown's in Missouri's 38-7 win over Arkansas Jan. 1, played in one game as a freshman in 2004 before injuring his Achilles' tendon, but the Big 12 rejected his request for another year of eligibility . . . In a move his legal team calls a gesture of good faith, not an offer to settle, former West Virginia football coach Rich Rodriguez filed a $1.5 million letter of credit with the US District Court in Clarksburg, W. Va. The university claims Rodriguez owes $4 million for breaking his contract and moving on to Michigan. At most, Rodriguez countered, it's $1.5 million.
