Florida swamps LSU; Missouri upset at home

Tim Tebow and No. 11 Florida looked like the juggernaut everyone expected this season.
Tebow threw two touchdown passes to Percy Harvin and ran for a score, and the Gators thumped defending national champion LSU, 51-21, last night in Gainesville, Fla.
The fourth-ranked Tigers (4-1, 2-1 SEC) entered The Swamp with six consecutive wins, 19 in a row at night, and 23 straight in regulation. Florida (5-1, 3-1) ended all those streaks with a fast start and some huge plays from Tebow, Harvin, Jeff Demps, and Brandon Spikes.
LSU's last regulation loss also came at The Swamp two years ago, but this one was the worst beating of coach Les Miles's four-year tenure.
LSU trailed, 20-0, late in the first half, but cut it to 20-14 early in the third quarter. Tebow hardly flinched, responding with a 67-yard TD drive that included a perfect pass to Louis Murphy down the sideline and a few nifty runs.
The Gators pulled away from there, getting a 42-yard TD run from Demps, a 52-yard interception return for a score from Spikes, and a short TD run from Kestahn Moore.
Tebow finished 14 of 21 for 210 yards. He also ran 12 times for 22 yards. Harvin had six catches for 112 yards. The Gators finished with 265 yards rushing and outgained LSU, 475-321.
Oklahoma St. 28, Missouri 23 - The No. 17 Cowboys made a statement in the Big 12, intercepting Chase Daniel three times in the second half to upset the third-ranked Tigers in Columbia, Mo.
Zac Robinson and Damian Davis hooked up on a pair of long scores in the second half for Oklahoma State (6-0, 2-0), and Patrick Lavines interception at the Oklahoma State 31 with 1:41 to go was the clincher. Missouri (5-1, 1-1) had appeared poised to challenge for No. 1 after top-ranked Oklahoma lost, but instead was held 19 points below its scoring average.
Penn St. 48, Wisconsin 7 - With coach Joe Paterno perched in the press box for the second straight week because of a sore hip, the No. 6 Nittany Lions (7-0, 3-0 Big Ten) dismantled the host Badgers (3-3, 0-3) behind Daryll Clark, who threw for a TD and ran for two more. Texas Tech 37, Nebraska 31 - At Lubbock, Texas, Eric Morris scooted 1 yard around right end for a TD in overtime and Jamar Wall made that score stand up for the No. 7 Red Raiders (6-0, 2-0 Big 12) with a game-ending interception against the Cornhuskers (3-3, 0-2). Southern Cal 28, Arizona St. 0 - At Los Angeles, Mark Sanchez passed for one TD and ran for another, Kevin Thomas returned an interception 46 yards for a TD, and the eighth-ranked Trojans (4-1, 2-1 Pac-10) beat the Sun Devils (2-4, 1-2) for the ninth straight time.
BYU 21, New Mexico 3 - The ninth-ranked Cougars (6-0, 2-0 Mountain West) had their lowest-scoring game of the season but still extended the nation's longest winning streak to 16. Max Hall threw for three TDs in the home win.
Georgia 26, Tennessee 14 - Matthew Stafford passed for a career-best 310 yards, Knowshon Moreno ran for 101 yards, and the No. 10 Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) looked strong in Athens, Ga., leaving the Volunteers 0-3 in the SEC for the first time in 20 years.
Ohio St. 16, Purdue 3 - Malcolm Jenkins blocked a punt and Etienne Sabino returned it 20 yards for a TD, helping the No. 12 Buckeyes (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten) overcome a shaky offensive performance in Columbus, Ohio.
Mississippi St. 17, Vanderbilt 14 - The host Bulldogs (2-4, 1-2 SEC) handed the 13th-ranked Commodores their first loss, derailing the feel-good story of the year with a pair of second-half interceptions and a smothering defense.
Vanderbilt (5-1, 3-1) was looking to go 6-0 for the first time since 1928, but couldn't hold a 7-3 halftime lead and was held to 107 yards of total offense.
Utah 40, Wyoming 7 - The No. 14 Utes (7-0, 3-0 Mountain West) thoroughly dominated the host Cowboys as Matt Asiata ran for a TD and caught another, Utah's special teams scored two TDs, and its defense forced five turnovers.
Boise St. 24, Southern Miss 7 - The 15th-ranked Broncos (5-0) got three TD passes from Kellen Moore in the first half in recording an easy win in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Kansas 30, Colorado 14 - Jake Sharp ran for three TDs and Todd Reesing threw for 256 yards and another score, leading the No. 16 Jayhawks (5-1, 2-0 Big 12) past the Buffaloes, who trailed by just 2 entering the final quarter in Lawrence, Kan.
Arkansas 25, Auburn 22 - Michael Smith rushed for 176 yards and scored the go-ahead TD on a 63-yard run in the fourth quarter, enabling the visiting Razorbacks (3-3, 1-2) to upset the No. 20 Tigers (4-3, 2-3), who struggled again after last week's firing of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin.
Michigan St. 37, Northwestern 20 - At Evanston, Ill., Javon Ringer ran for 124 yards and two scores to carry the No. 23 Spartans (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten) past the previously unbeaten Wildcats (5-1, 1-1).
Ball St. 24, Western Kentucky 7 - Playing its first-ever game as a ranked team, the No. 25 Cardinals (7-0) got two TD passes from Nate Davis in defeating the Hilltoppers of the FCS in Bowling Green, Ky.![]()
