Fordham gives Yale a swift kick

Adam Danko's 20-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining gave Fordham a 12-10 victory yesterday over Yale in New York.

The Bulldogs (3-2) took a 10-7 lead when Bobby Abare returned a fumble 86 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. The Rams got within 10-9 on a safety later in the third.

Tom Mantee's 22-yard field goal gave Yale a 3-0 lead. Fordham moved in front on John Skelton's 20-yard TD pass to Jason Caldwell later in the first quarter.

Skelton completed 31 of 45 passes for 291 yards for the Rams (3-3). Xavier Martin added 109 yards on 28 carries.

Yale quarterback Ryan Fodor was 10 of 16 for 120 yards.

Colgate 38, Cornell 22 - In Ithaca, N.Y., Nate Eachus rushed for 241 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders (5-2) rolled over the Big Red (3-2).

Colgate played most of the game without star running back Jordan Scott, who was sidelined in the second quarter after suffering an apparent left ankle injury.

Colgate racked up 600 yards of total offense. Quarterback Greg Sullivan completed 8 of 17 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 19-yard touchdown run to open the scoring.

Pat Simonds had five catches for 196 yards - including a 78-yard score early in the second quarter to give the Raiders a 17-0 lead.

Penn 15, Columbia 10 - Andrew Samson kicked two field goals and the Quakers' defense set up Penn's only touchdown in a win over the Lions in Philadelphia.

Samson kicked field goals of 37 and 31 yards and Brad Blackmon scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter as Penn (3-2, 2-0 Ivy) took a 13-10 lead into halftime. Blackmon's touchdown was set up by a 27-yard fumble return by Britton Ertman that put the ball at the Columbia 2.

Columbia (0-5, 0-2) did not penetrate Penn territory on its last three possessions. The Lions drove to their 41 with less than a minute left, but Josh Powers picked off a deep pass from Shane Kelly and the Quakers ran out the clock.

Brown 31, Princeton 10 - Buddy Farnham scored two touchdowns and compiled 285 all-purpose yards as the Bears (3-2, 2-0) romped over the Tigers (2-3, 1-1) in Princeton, N.J.

Michael Dougherty completed 14 of 27 passes for 181 yards and a TD down for Brown. He also had a 34-yard keeper to set up Dereck Knight's 6-yard TD run.
