Bears roar into first place

Michael Dougherty threw four touchdown passes against the nation's top-ranked defense as Brown beat Penn, 34-27, yesterday in Philadelphia to move into first place alone in the Ivy League.
The Bears (5-2) are 4-0 in the Ivy for the first time. The Quakers fell to 4-3, 3-1.
Tyson Maugle scored on a blocked punt with 1:21 remaining to bring Penn within 34-27, but Buddy Farnham, who caught two TD passes, recovered the ensuing onside kick for Brown.
Bradford Blackmon had a TD reception and threw for a score for the Quakers, who came in allowing just 13 points per game.
Princeton 31, Cornell 26 - Brian Anderson connected with Will Thanheiser for a pair of second-half touchdowns as the Tigers (3-4, 2-2) overcame an early deficit in Ithaca, N.Y.
Yale 27, Columbia 12 - In New Haven, Mike McLeod rushed for three touchdowns and the Bulldogs (4-3, 2-2) cruised past the Lions (1-6, 1-3).![]()
