Brown, Maine dominate Iona, win fourth in row

Pushaun Brown carried 16 times for 136 yards and a touchdown and Maine scored on seven of its first nine possessions yesterday en route to a 55-7 rout of Iona in Orono.

In winning its fourth straight, Maine (6-3) picked up 375 rushing yards and 516 total yards, to 130 for Iona (3-6).

Jared Turcotte ran for 79 yards on eight carries with a touchdown and Roosevelt Boone and Jhamal Fluellen each ran for a pair of scores for Maine. Mike Brusko was 11-of-14 passing for 141 yards and two TDs.

UNH 45, Hofstra 25 - John Clements and Dino Vasso returned interceptions for touchdowns and the defense forced seven turnovers as the ninth-ranked Wildcats (7-1, 4-1) rolled past the visiting Pride (3-6, 1-4).

Robert Simpson rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns and R.J. Toman threw for a pair of TDs as the Wildcats won their third straight.

James Madison 41, Delaware 7 - Quarterback Rodney Landers rushed for 185 yards and two scores to power the top-ranked Dukes (8-1, 6-0) to an easy win over the visiting Blue Hens (3-6, 1-4).

William & Mary 34, Towson 14 - Jake Phillips threw a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes and the No. 16 Tribe (6-2, 4-1) got past the host Tigers (3-6, 1-4).
