Randolph, HC rout Fordham

QB's 5 TD passes boost Crusaders

Dominic Randolph threw for 407 yards and five touchdowns to lead Holy Cross to a 38-17 win over Fordham yesterday in Worcester.

Randolph was 35 of 59 and threw three of his TD passes to Jon Brock, who had eight catches for 105 yards.

Holy Cross (6-3, 4-0 Patriot League) opened the scoring with a 43-yard touchdown pass from Randolph to Brett McDermott midway through the first quarter. The Crusaders made it 10-0 six minutes later on Matt Partain's 22-yard field goal.

Randolph's second scoring pass was a 4-yarder to Ryan McGuire in the second quarter.

John Skelton finished 14 of 31 for 168 yards and a touchdown for Fordham (4-5, 0-4).

Monmouth 19, Sacred Heart 7 - David Sinisi ran for two second-half touchdowns to lead the host Hawks over the Pioneers and into second place in the Northeast Conference.

Fred Weingart added field goals of 41 and 24 yards in the first half for the Hawks (6-4, 5-1), while the Pioneers (8-2, 4-2) got their lone score on a 1-yard pass from Dale Fink to Evin Jones late in the second quarter.

Central Conn. 36, St. Francis (Pa.) 0 - James Mallory ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a 70-yarder in the third quarter, and the host Blue Devils (6-4, 3-3 Northeast) picked off five passes in a win over the Red Flash (0-9, 0-6).

Maine Maritime 66, Fitchburg St. 32 - Jim Bower rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns and the host Mariners (7-3, 6-1 NEFC) rolled past the Falcons (4-6, 4-3) to win their first Bogan Division title since 1998.

The Mariners broke a school record with eight rushing touchdowns and a school record for total yards in a game, compiling 572 in the lopsided victory.

Maine Maritime advances to the NEFC title game Saturday against Plymouth State, with the winner getting an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Plymouth St. 34, Salve Regina 7 - Steve Campbell, subbing for starter Jeff Mack (flu), rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns and the host Panthers (9-1, 7-0 NEFC) rolled past the Seahawks (4-5, 3-4) and clinched the Boyd Division title.

Curry 40, UMass-Dartmouth 20 - Ryan Van De Giesen passed for 247 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a team-high 76 yards as the visiting Colonels (9-1, 6-1 NEFC) pulled away to down the Corsairs (6-4, 4-3).

Bridgewater St. 34, Mass. Maritime 7 - Jeff Creeden had three short TD runs and Andrae Murphy returned an interception 65 yards for a score to lead the host Bears (7-3, 6-1 NEFC) past the Buccaneers (0-10, 0-7).

Endicott 39, MIT 18 - Matt DeOliveira passed for three touchdowns and Mike Lane ran for one TD and caught a scoring pass to lift the Powergulls (3-7, 2-5 NEFC) over the Engineers (5-5, 3-4).

WNEC 42, Nichols 14 - Jordan Capitanio ran for two scores and caught a 53-yard TD pass from Justin Walz as the visiting Golden Bears (3-7, 3-4 NEFC) routed the Bison (2-8, 0-7).

Westfield St. 41, Worcester St. 0 - Luke Johnson scored a pair of TDs, including a 77-yard pass from Dan Cohen, as the host Owls (6-4, 4-3 NEFC) pounded the Lancers (2-8, 2-5).

Framingham St. 25, Coast Guard 23 - Quarterback Bruce Rich, who passed for 306 yards, ran for a 13-yard TD with 10 seconds left to rally the visiting Rams (5-5, 3-4 NEFC) past the Bears (3-6, 3-4).

Southern Conn. 27, AIC 17 - Chris Roberts threw three touchdown passes in the second half as the visiting Owls (8-2) came back to hand the Yellow Jackets (9-1) their first loss of the season.

The loss ended AIC's 15-game winning streak and 13-game home winning streak - both school records - and helped Southern Connecticut's chances of earning an NCAA playoff berth. The Division 2 playoff field will be announced today.

Stonehill 35, Bentley 7 - Cruz Parsons threw three touchdown passes, and the defense recorded eight takeaways and nine sacks to give the host Skyhawks (4-6) their first win over the Falcons (5-6) in 13 years.

Merrimack 34, Assumption 7 - James Suozzo passed for 334 yards and four TDs - two to Quivari Jackson - and the visiting Warriors (6-4, 5-3 Northeast-10) pounded the Greyhounds (1-9, 1-7).

Saint Anselm 28, Pace 14 - Freshman quarterback Marc Wilson passed for one TD and ran for another and rushed for a school-record 285 yards to lead the visiting Hawks (2-8, 2-6 NE-10) past the Setters (4-6, 3-5).

Wilson finished the season with 1,214 rushing yards, the most in school history.

Trinity 38, Wesleyan 14 - Oliver Starnes rushed for 120 yards and three TDs and the visiting Bantams rolled past the Cardinals (1-7, 1-7) to complete an 8-0 season and capture their fifth NESCAC title in seven years.

Williams 24, Amherst 23 - Brian Morrissey ran for a game-high 87 yards and his 4-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter proved the difference as the Ephs (6-2, 6-2 NESCAC) edged the host Lord Jeffs (5-3, 5-3).

Middlebury 38, Tufts 24 - Jack Kramer passed for 299 yards and three touchdowns and the host Panthers (5-3, 5-3 NESCAC) scored 31 second-half points to get past the Jumbos (4-4, 4-4).

Bowdoin 20, Colby 6 - Oliver Kell ran for one touchdown and passed for another to lead the visiting Polar Bears (4-4, 4-4 NESCAC) past the White Mules (3-5, 3-5).

Bates 23, Hamilton 22 - Ryan Katon connected with Tom Beaton for a 20-yard TD pass with 1:15 remaining, boosting the host Bobcats (2-6, 2-6 NESCAC) past the Continentals (2-6, 2-6).

Susquehanna 51, WPI 21 - Dave Paveletz rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns and the visiting Crusaders (4-5, 3-3 Liberty) rolled over the Engineers (6-3, 3-3).

Springfield 45, Hartwick 31 - Mark Safer and Josh Carter each ran for two touchdowns and the host Pride (3-6, 1-4 Empire 8) surprised the Hawks (6-2, 3-2).

Husson 48, Becker 13 - Justin Lindie ran for three TDs and returned a punt 51 yards for another to lead the visiting Eagles (7-2) past the Hawks (2-7).

Dean 38, Lackawanna 28 - Anthony Baskerv caught TD passes of 44 and 42 yards from Stanley Jennings and ran 48 yards for another score to seal the Bulldogs' win over the Falcons in Franklin. The win allowed Dean (10-0), ranked 12th in the nation, to win the Northeast Conference championship for the second straight season. The Bulldogs now await word on if they'll receive a National Junior College Athletic Association bowl bid.
