Nick Schwieger ran for a school-record 244 yards on 29 carries and scored a touchdown, helping Dartmouth snap a 17-game losing streak with a 28-6 win over Columbia yesterday in Hanover, N.H.

Connor Kempe completed only 8 of 22 passes for 75 yards for the Big Green (1-5, 1-2 Ivy), but two went for touchdowns.

“The guys played with confidence today,’’ said Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens. “They came out hooping and hollering, which was orchestrated at first, but as the game went on became very genuine. The sense of relief for this team is huge, because there is no doubt that as the streak got to 15, 16, 17, it weighed on everyone. But seeing the school take such great pride in the team and victory by rushing the field was the best thing.’’

The Big Green jumped ahead of the Lions (2-4, 1-2) in the first quarter, 14-0, on Kempe’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Niles Murphy and a 7-yarder to Michael Reilly. They pushed the lead to 21-0 to start the fourth when Charles Bay picked up a fumble and ran it back 39 yards for a score.

Schwieger’s 66-yard touchdown run sealed the win.

Brown 34, Cornell 14 - Zachary Tronti rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns and Kyle Newhall-Caballero threw for two scores to lead the Bears over the host Big Red.

Newhall-Caballero finished 26 of 40 for 338 yards for Brown (4-2, 2-1). Buddy Farnham caught nine balls for 207 yards and both touchdowns.

Cornell (2-4, 1-2) took a 14-7 lead just under four minutes into the second half when Brandon Lainhart intercepted Newhall-Caballero and returned it 24 yards for a score, but Brown ran off 27 unanswered points.

Penn 9, Yale 0 - Jared Sholly intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown, and the Quakers (4-2, 3-0) blanked the Bulldogs (3-3, 1-2) for their third straight win.
