Paul Pasqualoni returned to the college sidelines yesterday, coaching host Connecticut to a season-opening 35-3 rout of FCS foe Fordham.
Redshirt freshman tailback Lyle McCombs ran for 141 yards and four touchdowns for the Huskies, two in each half.
Pasqualoni was coaching his first game since leaving Syracuse in 2004, and is now tied for the most wins by any Big East coach with 108.
Junior Johnny McEntee started at quarterback for UConn, completing 8 of 12 passes for 113 yards.
Maine 28, Bryant 13 - Pushaun Brown rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Trevor Coston had a 74-yard punt return for a score as the host Black Bears took a 28-0 lead and held off the Bulldogs.

Endicott 33, Framingham St. 13 - Phil Konopka passed for 271 yards and three touchdowns and Jason Silva had two interceptions to propel the Gulls to an NEFC victory over the visiting Rams.
WNEC 28, Norwich 24 - Bryce Brown passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two, including a 3-yarder with 1:43 left to power the Golden Bears past the Cadets in an NEFC game in Springfield.
Salve Regina 25, Union 22 - Freshman Mark Moore kicked a 49-yard field goal as time expired to give the host Seahawks their first victory over the Dutchmen. Richie Edwards rushed for 230 yards and two scores for Salve Regina.
Plymouth St. 28, Castleton St. 20 - Andrew Foglia (151 yards) rushed for two touchdowns as the host Panthers racked up 299 rushing yards in beating the Spartans.
Bowie St. 28, Assumption 7 - Clifton Budd threw for two scores as the visiting Bulldogs won the first meeting between the schools. Derek Fernandez found Paul Perez on a 13-yard TD pass for the Greyhounds.
New Haven 35, West Chester 32 - Ryan Osiecki threw for three TDs, including the winner to Josh Smart in overtime, as the Chargers rallied from a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the visiting Golden Rams.
AIC 13, C.W. Post 7 - Markell Rice returned an interception 95 yards for a TD on the first possession of overtime to give the visiting Yellow Jackets the victory. Kutztown 56, Saint Anselm 30 - Kevin Morton threw six TD passes and the Golden Bears, ranked 20th in Division 2, piled up 697 yards of total offense to beat the host Hawks.
Worcester St. 55, Anna Maria 30 - Tony Tokarz completed only nine passes, but five went for touchdowns, as the Lancers, who also rushed for 316 yards, pounded the Amcats in Paxton.
Merrimack 60, WPI 3 - In North Andover, James Suozzo threw for four first-half TDs, two each to Shane Ferguson and Isaiah Voegeli, and the Warriors went on to break the school record for points in a game.
Marist 20, Sacred Heart 7 - The Red Foxes scored the game’s final 20 points, with Chuckie Looney throwing for three scores, two to Michael Rios (43 and 47 yards), in Fairfield, Conn.![]()
