As they sat in their locker room, stewing over the 7 -point halftime deficit they faced in Tuesday night’s nonconference game against Sacred Heart, the Boston College men’s basketball team was jolted back to the reality of the situation.

Sensing a lapse in the momentum his team had generated with two encouraging performances against UConn and Washington in the 2K Sports Classic Nov. 21-22, BC coach Steve Donahue got everyone’s attention when he merely pointed out one overlooked aspect of Sacred Heart’s first-half effort.

“Coach came in and said, ‘Guys, they only scored 3 points in the last seven minutes of the half,’ ’’ said sophomore guard and cocaptain Joe Rahon.
