Maurice Watson Jr. had 12 points and six assists as Boston University defeated Holy Cross, 70-60, in its Patriot League debut on Thursday at Agganis Arena.

D.J. Irving stripped the ball from Holy Cross’ Justin Burrell with 38 seconds left and made both free throws to put the Terriers up, 68-60.

Dom Morris and John Papale added 11 points each and eight players scored at least six points for BU (8-6, 1-0).

Dave Dudzinski had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Holy Cross and Hamilton led the Crusaders with 16 points.
