It would appear Boston College is prepared to move on from Harvard’s Tommy Amaker and go back to the future to fill its men’s basketball vacancy after school officials interviewed St. Bonaventure coach Mark Schmidt, a 1985 BC alum, according to an ESPN.com report.
The school took a similar tack in 1986 when it tabbed then-St. Bonaventure’s Jim O’Brien, a 1971 BC alum, to succeed Gary Williams.
Schmidt, 51, a native of North Attleborough, is 106-110 in seven seasons with the Bonnies, including 20-12 in 2011-12.
