UNH continued its torrid start, beating UMass-Lowell, 5-2, at the Tsongas Center on Saturday night.
The second-ranked Wildcats (11-1-2, 8-1-1 Hockey East) have gone 7-0-1 in their past eight games, their only loss coming in a 2-1 overtime setback against UMass on Nov. 2.
Dalton Speelman scored two goals for UNH, the winner and an empty-netter that sealed the victory.
Stephen Buco netted two goals for the River Hawks (4-7-1, 2-6-1).
UMass 6, Northeastern 3 — The Minutemen broke open the game in the third period with three goals to beat the Huskies at Matthews Arena for a split of the weekend series. Adam Phillips, Joel Hanley, and Michael Pereira scored in the final frame for UMass (5-6-2, 4-6-1 Hockey East). Kevin Roy scored twice for Northeastern (5-8-1, 3-7-1).
Merrimack 2, Providence 1 — Brian Christie and Josh Myers scored to lift the Warriors past the Friars in Providence. Rasmus Tirronen stopped 34 shots for Merrimack (5-7-2, 4-4-1 Hockey East). Tim Schaller scored his fourth goal of the season for Providence (7-6-1, 5-4-0).
Vermont 2, Maine 2 — Brody Hoffman stopped 36 shots for the Catamounts (3-7-3, 3-5-3 Hockey East) as they played to a tie with the host Black Bears. Joey Diamond scored the tying goal for Maine (2-10-2, 1-6-2) 1:11 into the third period.
Dartmouth 5, Bentley 2 — Matt Linblad potted two goals and recorded an assist as the No. 11 Big Green beat the Falcons in Hanover, N.H. Bentley (6-7-0) took a 2-1 lead early in the second period before Dartmouth (6-2-2) ripped off four unanswered goals.
Yale 4, Brown 3 — Andrew Miller and Antoine Laganiere scored 30 seconds apart late in the second period to lift the No. 15 Bulldogs (6-2-1, 3-2-0 ECAC) past the visiting Bears. All of Yale’s goals were scored on the power play. Brown (3-5-2, 0-3-2) took a 2-0 lead on goals by Dennis Robertson and Chris Zaires in the first period.
Quinnipiac 3, Rensselaer 1 — With the host Engineers on a two-man advantage, Matthew Peca scored the winner to lift the No. 16 Bobcats (10-3-2, 6-0-0 ECAC) to victory. Mike Zalewski scored his first goal of the season for Rensselaer (3-6-3, 0-5-1).
Niagara 5, Sacred Heart 2 — The No. 20 Purple Eagles put 52 shots on goal in a win over the Pioneers (0-12-2, 0-9-2 Atlantic Hockey). C.J. Chartrain had three assists for Niagara (10-2-3, 9-0-0).
Holy Cross 1, Robert Morris 1 — Jake Youso scored the lone goal 8:30 into the second period for the host Crusaders (7-4-2, 6-3-2 Atlantic Hockey) as they tied the Colonials in Worcester. Robert Morris (5-4-1, 4-3-1) tied it 1:30 later on a goal by Andrew Blazek.
Canisius 3, UConn 1 — At Storrs, Conn., the Golden Griffins got 45 saves from Tony Capobianco in a win over the Huskies. Canisius (5-6-4, 4-2-2 Atlantic Hockey) managed only 15 shots on goal. UConn (4-7-1, 3-6-0) got its lone goal from Tyler Bouchard.
Army 3, AIC 2 — Shane Hearn scored the winner with just over five minutes left as the host Black Knights got past the Yellow Jackets (3-7-3, 0-5-3 Atlantic Hockey). Thane Heller and Christian Pomarico also scored for Army (5-6-1, 5-2-1).
BC 10, Maine 0 — Freshman Dana Trivigno registered a hat trick and added two assists as the No. 5 Eagles (10-3-2, 7-2-1 Hockey East) blanked the Black Bears (2-10-1, 1-8-0) at Conte Forum.
BU 6, Providence 4 — At Walter Brown Arena, senior Isabel Menard netted the winner for the No. 7 Terriers (11-3-1, 6-2-1 Hockey East) with less than two minutes remaining. Marie-Philip Poulin had a hat trick for BU. Nicole Anderson led the Friars (8-7-4, 5-4-2) with a hat trick.
Northeastern 8, UNH 1 — Casey Pickett notched three assists for the ninth-ranked Huskies (9-4-2, 5-3-1 Hockey East) in their rout of the host Wildcats (6-10-1, 3-3-1), making her the 21st Northeastern player to record 100 career points. Maggie DiMasi added two goals for the Huskies.
