Bentley hoping to soar to the finish

There are 11 games remaining and Bentley (12-8-3) already has as many victories as it had last season. The Falcons are 10-3-3 in Atlantic Hockey Conference play, good for second place, and will be looking to sweep the three-game season series against Holy Cross (6-15-2) in Worcester Saturday night.

The two previous contests were very close. The host Falcons beat the Crusaders, 3-2, in overtime on Nov. 16. The second meeting, at Fenway Park Dec. 28, was decided by a 3-2 score in regulation.

“I think we’ve done a nice job of committing to team defense,’’ said Bentley coach Ryan Soderquist. “Certainly we’ve been getting some pretty strong goaltending [from Branden Komm] but overall commitment from the forwards to the defense to the goalie all working together in the defensive zone has been a big plus for us this year.’’
