Quinnipiac 83, Cornell 76

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Rob Monroe had 32 points and five assists while Craig Benson scored 24 points as Quinnipiac beat Cornell 83-76 Wednesday night.

The backcourt tandem shot a combined 20-for-28, including 9-of-14 from 3-point range, to lead the Bobcats (3-2). Monroe was four points off his career high set last season, and Benson scored a career-best.

The game was close throughout. Quinnipiac led 35-33 at the break, but Cornell took a 46-45 lead in the second half. The Bobcats used an 11-3 run to go ahead by seven, but Cornell answered with its own 8-0 run to take its final lead, 57-56, with 9:49 remaining.

Quinnipiac went on a 10-2 spurt to take a 66-59 lead and held on for the win.

Lenny Collins led Cornell (1-4) with 27 points and four assists. Cody Toppert added 15 and Eric Taylor chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds.
