Savage sinks Crimson

Noah Savage made a jumper with two seconds left to lift Princeton to a 60-59 victory over host Harvard last night at Lavietes Pavilion.

Harvard (12-8, 4-3 Ivy League) led, 59-53, after Matt Stehle hit two free throws with 1:17 remaining.

Princeton's Edwin Buffmire converted two free throws and the Tigers' full-court press forced a turnover. Scott Greenman hit a 3-pointer to make it 59-58 with 31 seconds left.

On the next play, Buffmire deflected a pass and Princeton gained possession. The Tigers (6-12, 4-1) did not call time out and set up Savage for the winning field goal.

Penn 70, Dartmouth 51 -- Ibrahim Jaaber made 9 of 11 field-goal attempts and scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Quakers (13-6, 5-0 Ivy) over the Big Green (3-17, 1-6) in Hanover, N.H.

Cornell 63, Brown 59 -- Graham Dow scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting and the Big Red (10-11, 5-2 Ivy) edged the Bears (6-14, 2-5) in Providence. Brown's Keenan Jeppesen led all scorers with 21 points.

Yale 74, Columbia 67 -- Dominick Martin had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the host Bulldogs (12-10, 4-3 Ivy) held off a late rally to beat the Lions (8-12, 1-6).

Robert Morris 77, Central Conn. 74 -- Jeremy Chappell led all five starters into double figures with 19 points as the Colonials (12-10, 8-5 Northeast Conference) held off the visiting Blue Devils (12-9, 8-4).

Quinnipiac 65, St. Francis 62 -- Adam Gonzalez scored 18 points as the Bobcats (11-11, 6-7 NEC) overcame the Red Flash (3-20, 1-12) in Loretto, Pa.

Women

Duke 88, Virginia 65 -- Mistie Williams scored 16 points and the second-ranked Blue Devils (22-1, 9-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) ran past the Cavaliers (13-9, 2-8) in Durham, N.C.

Ohio State 74, Michigan 55 -- Jessica Davenport scored 23 points and the No. 7 Buckeyes (20-2, 10-1 Big 10) cruised past the host Wolverines (6-18, 0-12) to extend their winning streak to 11 games.

Rutgers 54, West Virginia 41 -- Cappie Pondexter scored 22 points and the visiting Scarlet Knights (19-3, 11-0 Big East) survived an 8-minute scoring drought for their 19th consecutive Big East win.

William & Mary 58, Northeastern 54 -- Kyra Kaylor scored 28 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 13 of 14 from the line, and added 18 rebounds as the Tribe (11-10, 7-5 Colonial Athletic Association) held off a rally by the host Huskies (7-14, 3-9).

Richmond 77, Rhode Island 54 -- Aracili Gil and Sarah Williams each scored 15 points as the Spiders (9-14, 4-7 Atlantic-10) topped the visiting Rams (6-16, 3-8).

Brown 71, Cornell 68 -- Colleen Kelly scored 22 points and hit four of five free throws down the stretch to lead the Bears (12-8, 6-1 Ivy) in Ithaca, N.Y.

Princeton 70, Harvard 55 -- Center Becky Brown hit 12 of 16 shots and scored 27 points, and the host Tigers (14-5, 5-1 Ivy) outscored the Crimson (7-12, 3-3) by a 36-22 margin in the paint.
