Providence had connected on just 19 3-pointers all season before finally finding the range last night, shooting 14 of 24 from downtown to bury Harvard, 93-70, in Providence.

Three Friars were responsible for the marksmanship. Jeff Xavier was 7 of 11 on 3-point tries and totaled 27 points, while Brian McKenzie contributed a 4-of-7 effort from deep en route to 20 points and Dwain Williams (15 points) hit half of his six 3-point attempts. Jamine Peterson added 11 points for Providence (3-1).

Harvard (2-4) led by 6 midway through the first half but couldn't keep up. Drew Housman paced the Crimson with 14 points.

Northeastern 70, Maine 57 - The Huskies (2-2), who received 17 points from Matt Janning, beat the Black Bears (3-3) in Orono, Maine.

Vermont 59, Towson 57 - Colin McIntosh canned a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 5.4 seconds left to pick up the Catamounts (2-3) in Burlington, Vt.

Brown 73, Northwestern 67 - Freshman Peter Sullivan scored 16 of his team-high 19 points in the second half to lift the Bears (2-2) over the Wildcats (1-3) in Evanston, Ill.

URI 83, Toledo 57 - Will Daniels totaled 26 points as the Rams (5-1) never trailed at home.

Hartford 80, S. Carolina St. 72 - Jaret Von Rosenberg scored a career-high 31 points, giving the Hawks (3-4) an overtime win and fifth place in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Dartmouth 81, Colgate 76 - At Hamilton, N.Y., DeVon Mosley scored 21 points and Alex Barnett added 20 as the Big Green (2-3) snapped a two-game losing streak.

Cincinnati 69, Fairfield 64 - The Stags' Jonathan Han led all scorers with 20 points, but couldn't carry Fairfield (2-3) past the host Bearcats (3-2).

Framingham St. 73, Lesley 71 - Josue Almodovar (13 points) was named tournament MVP as the Rams (3-2) captured the Harbor Invitational title at Clark Athletic Center.

UMass-Boston 68, Maine-Fort Kent 64 - Terrell Maddox powered his way to 24 points as the Beacons (1-2) prevailed in the Harbor Invitational consolation game.

North Carolina 73, BYU 63 - The top-ranked Tar Heels (5-0) needed 21 points from Tyler Hansbrough and a late surge past the Cougars (5-1) to capture the Las Vegas Invitational.

Louisville 64, Old Dominion 53 - The No. 6 Cardinals (4-1) rebounded from Friday's loss by getting 20 points from Terrence Williams in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Texas 97, Tennessee 78 - D.J. Augustin scored 23 points and the No. 15 Longhorns (5-0) shot 64 percent against the No. 7 Volunteers (5-1) to win the StubHub! Legends Classic in Newark, N.J.

Xavier 80, Indiana 65 - C.J. Anderson and B.J. Raymond had 19 points apiece for the Musketeers (4-1), who stomped the No. 8 Hoosiers (4-1) in the final of the Chicago Invitational Challenge.

Washington St. 71, Mississippi Valley St. 26 - Caleb Forrest had 13 points in Spokane, Wash., and the ninth-ranked Cougars (5-0) had their best defensive showing since 1948.

Michigan St. 75, Oakland 71 - The No. 10 Spartans (4-1) used 15 points and 10 rebounds from Goran Suton to come back against the Grizzlies (2-3) in East Lansing, Mich.

Oregon 110, San Francisco 79 - Maarty Leunen (18 points) and six teammates hit double figures for the 12th-ranked Ducks (5-1) at home.

Gonzaga 82, Virginia Tech 64 - Abdullahi Kuso's 19 points powered the No. 14 Bulldogs (5-1) to third place in the Great Alaska Shootout.

Women

Notre Dame 88, BC 58 - The No. 23 Fighting Irish (4-1) converted 33 turnovers into 41 points in a home romp over the Eagles (2-2). BC's Stefanie Murphy had a game-high 18 points.

West Virginia 80, URI 47 - LaQuita Owens (22 points) had four of the 11 3-pointers by the No. 16 Mountaineers (5-1), who cruised past the Rams (3-3) in the final of the URI Classic. American defeated Brown, 57-46, in the consolation game.

East Carolina 66, UMass 51 - Kate Mills and Pam Rosanio each had 13 points for the Minutewomen (2-3), who wrapped up the Lady Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C., with a loss.

N.C. A&T 62, BU 54 - The Terriers (4-2) dropped the title game of the UNCG Thanksgiving Classic in Greensboro, N.C., despite Kasey Devine (14 points) leading four double-figure scorers for BU.

Harvard 63, Hofstra 56 - Emily Tay (20 points) and Lindsay Hallion (19) fueled the Crimson (3-2) in the title game of the Dead River Company Classic in Orono, Maine.

Quinnipiac 70, Maine 49 - Mandy Pennewell (19 points) powered the Bobcats (2-1) past the Black Bears (1-4) in the third-place game in Orono.

Long Island 70, Holy Cross 51 - The Blackbirds (4-2) got 21 points from Valerie Nainima and held the Crusaders (3-3) without a double-digit scorer in the LaGuardia Turkey Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Vermont 62, Fairleigh Dickinson 51 - The third-place game of the NAU Thanksgiving tournament in Flagstaff, Ariz., went to the Catamounts (4-2) and Courtnay Pilypaitis (12 points).

Saint Peter's 60, UNH 49 - Lauma Reke's 16 points helped the Peahens (4-1) slip past the Wildcats (2-2) in Durham, N.H.

Georgia 59, Southern Cal 57 - Tasha Humphrey had 18 points to help the No. 8 Bulldogs (6-0) hang on for the Freeport Division title in the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas.

Texas A&M 60, Indiana 48 - Twelve of Takia Starks's 17 points came in the second half, enabling the No. 11 Aggies (4-1) to pull away in the Paradise Jam in the US Virgin Islands.

Ohio St. 88, Colgate 26 - With Marscilla Packer netting 22 points, the 15th-ranked hosts moved to 5-0 and advanced to the Buckeye Classic final.
