Corey Lowe scored 30 points, including his team's first 12 on four 3-pointers in the first 4:31, as Boston University broke a four-game losing streak with an 82-72 win over visiting New Hampshire last night.

Playing their first home game since Dec. 4, the Terriers (4-10, 1-1 America East) led virtually all the way for their 15th straight home win over the Wildcats.

UNH (4-9, 1-1) scored the game's first basket before Lowe hit three straight 3-pointers to give his team the lead for good. He nailed another trey to make it 12-6 and BU led by 19 points in the first half and by as many as 21 in the second before holding off a mild UNH run.

Carlos Strong scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half for BU and Max Gotzler had a career-high 11 points and five rebounds.

Freshman Alvin Abreu led the Wildcats with 20 points, Tyrece Gibbs had 19, and Tyrone Conley 14.

The Wildcats, playing their first road game since Dec. 6, dressed only eight players after losing one to injury and one to academics.

Northeastern 79, Drexel 45 - Matt Janning had 21 points while making all eight of his field goal attempts and Nkem Ojougboh added 20 points as the host Huskies cruised over the Dragons in a game in which they never trailed.

The Huskies (6-8, 2-2 Colonial Athletic Association) made their first six attempts from the field and shot 58 percent for the game. Meanwhile, the Dragons (8-8, 1-3 CAA) shot only 29 percent.

North Carolina 93, UNC Asheville 81 - Tyler Hansbrough scored 23 points and Wayne Ellington added 19 to lead the top-ranked Tar Heels past the Bulldogs in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Memphis 99, East Carolina 58 - Freshman Derrick Rose scored 19 points and the No. 2 host Tigers (14-0, 1-0) overcame a somewhat lackluster start to beat the Pirates (6-8, 0-1) in the Conference USA opener.

Tennessee 85, Mississippi 83 - Tyler Smith hit a layup with 4.2 seconds to play and the No. 8 Volunteers (13-1) handed the No. 16 Rebels (13-1) their first loss of the season, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Duke 74, Temple 64 - Taylor King scored 15 points to lead the No. 9 Blue Devils (12-1) past the Owls (6-7) and give coach Mike Krzyzewski his 787th victory, moving him into sixth place on the career wins list.

Vanderbilt 80, S. Carolina 73 - Freshman A.J. Ogilvy scored 25 points and the No. 13 Commodores (16-0, 1-0 SEC) beat the Gamecocks (8-7, 0-1) in Nashville.

Dayton 92, URI 83 - Brian Roberts scored 23 points and the No. 17 Flyers (13-1) withstood a furious second-half rally by the visiting No. 22 Rams (14-2) in their Atlantic 10 opener.

Charlotte 82, Clemson 72 - Leemire Goldwire scored 21 points to lead the 49ers (9-5) over the No. 18 host Tigers (12-3), their first win over a ranked team in nearly three years.

Pittsburgh 79, South Florida 66 - Sam Young scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half, and the No. 20 Panthers (13-2, 1-1) rebounded from losing their Big East opener with a victory over the Bulls (10-6, 1-2) in Tampa.

Xavier 83, St. Bonaventure 68 - B.J. Raymond and C.J. Anderson each scored a career-high 21 points, and the No. 24 Musketeers (13-3, 1-0 Atlantic 10) overcame a sluggish performance to get their fifth straight win, beating the Bonnies (6-9, 0-1) in Cincinnati.

Providence 76, Rutgers 50 - Brian McKenzie scored a career-high 24 points as the host Friars (10-5, 1-2 Big East) raced to an easy victory.

Women
Connecticut 84, W. Virginia 48 - Maya Moore scored 25 points and the top-ranked Huskies (14-0, 2-0) continued to roll, winning their Big East home opener over the No. 16 Mountaineers (11-3, 1-1).

Oklahoma 67, Iowa State 64 - Danielle Robinson scored a career-high 23 points to lead the No. 6 Sooners (10-2, 1-0 Big 12) in Ames, Iowa.

Baylor 72, Texas Tech 67 - Jessica Morrow and Jhasmin Player each scored 19 points and the No. 8 Bears (13-1, 1-0) beat the Red Raiders (12-3, 0-1) in the Big 12 opener in Lubbock, Texas.

Kansas St. 67, Texas A&M 54 - Kimberly Dietz scored 20 points to lead the unranked Wildcats (9-5, 1-0 Big 12) over the No. 13 Aggies (12-2, 0-1) in College Station, Texas.

Nebraska 56, Texas 45 - Kelsey Griffin scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and the host Huskers (11-3, 1-0) knocked off the No. 15 Longhorns (12-2, 0-1).

Old Dominion 67, UNC-Wilmington 55 - Tiffany Green scored 21 points to lead the No. 18 Monarchs (11-3, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) over the Seahawks in Wilmington, N.C.

Wyoming 58, New Mexico 52 - Hanna Zavecz scored 14 points and Dominique Sisk swished four free throws in the final 21 seconds, leading No. 21 Cowgirls (13-1) over the Lobos (8-6) in Albuquerque.

Colorado 70, Missouri 58 - Brittany Spears had 24 points and Jackie McFarland added 17 to lead the No. 23 Buffaloes (12-2, 1-0) over the host Tigers (7-7, 0-1).

Oklahoma St. 59, Kansas 54 - Andrea Riley, the Big 12's leading scorer, had 18 of her 26 points in the second half to lead the No. 25 Cowgirls (13-1, 1-0) to a come-from-behind win over the host Jayhawks (11-3, 0-1).
