UMass felled at buzzer by Toledo

Justin Anyijong hit a tip-in at the buzzer to lead the Rockets to a 57-56 victory over UMass last night in Toledo, Ohio.
In a matchup that had 10 lead changes, the Minutemen (1-5) had a 56-55 advantage with 16 seconds left after Tony Gaffney hit two free throws. Gaffney then forced out a drive by Tyrone Kent, but Anyijong tipped in the rebound at the last second to secure the win for the Rockets (2-5).
Chris Lowe led UMass with 15 points.
North Carolina 98, Michigan State 63 - Tyler Hansbrough scored the first basket of both halves and finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds, leading the No. 1 Tar Heels to a rout of the No. 13 Spartans in Detroit.
The Tar Heels (8-0) took control with an 11-3 run late in the first half, led by 14 points at halftime, then built a 30-plus cushion.
The Spartans (4-2) started the season ranked sixth.
Pittsburgh 78, Duquesne 51 - Sam Young scored 23 points and DeJuan Blair was in control inside with 14 points and 17 rebounds, helping the No. 3 host Panthers (8-0) overcome a sluggish start to defeat the Dukes (4-2).
Tennessee 87, UNC-Asheville 69 - Tyler Smith had the first triple-double in school history, helping the No. 10 Volunteers romp to victory over the Bulldogs in Knoxville, Tenn.
Wake Forest 83, Indiana 58 - James Johnson scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half, and the No. 15 Demon Deacons routed the Hoosiers (4-3) in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Xavier 81, Auburn 74 - B.J. Raymond scored a career-high 32 points and the No. 14 Musketeers (7-0) remained undefeated with a victory over Auburn (3-4).
Syracuse 88, Cornell 78 - Jonny Flynn had 24 points, Paul Harris added 21 points and nine rebounds, and the No. 16 Orange (8-0) rallied to beat the visiting Big Red (4-4).
Central Connecticut St. 67, Delaware 61 - Ken Horton sank a pair of foul shots with 32.8 seconds on the clock to break a 61-61 tie, and Joe Seymore and Robby Ptacek each hit two more to give the visiting Blue Devils (3-3) the victory over the Blue Hens (2-5).
Providence 86, Brown 62 - Marshon Brooks scored 22 points off the bench and added five rebounds as the Friars (5-3) cruised past the Bears (3-4) in Providence.
Yale 76, Holy Cross 66 - Alex Zampier scored a career high 28 points to lift the host Bulldogs (2-4) over the Crusaders. Holy Cross (2-5) was led by Andrew Beinert, who had 15 points.
UNH 57, Colgate 54 - Tyrece Gibbs had a game-high 19 points, hitting two 3-pointers in the final two minutes, and the Wildcats (2-3) beat the Red Raiders (2-4) in Hamilton, N.Y.

Connecticut 96, Holy Cross 37 - Freshman Caroline Doty scored 11 points and extended her school-record streak of made 3-pointers to 10 to lead the top-ranked Huskies over the visiting Crusaders, their fifth straight game scoring at least 90 points.
North Carolina 72, Ohio State 63 - Jessica Breland scored 29 points and the second-ranked Tar Heels (9-0) held the No. 18 Buckeyes (6-2) scoreless for more than nine minutes of the second half to win in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Columbus, Ohio.
Oklahoma 69, Creighton 49 - All-America center Courtney Paris needed a late surge to record her 99th straight double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds, and the No. 6 Sooners overcame a lethargic effort to beat the visiting Bluejays.
Auburn 95, Carolina A&T 74 - Dewanna Bonner led the No. 14 Tigers (8-0) with 26 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over the visiting Aggies (3-3).
Georgia Tech 70, Michigan State 57 - Alex Montgomery scored 20 points to lead the Yellow Jackets (6-2) to an upset of the No. 21 Spartans (6-2) in Atlanta.
Pittsburgh 66, Duquesne 47 - Kate Popovec scored 15 points and was a perfect 7 for 7 from the field and Shavonte Zellous had 13 and the No. 24 Panthers (5-1) opened the second half with a decisive run to beat the visiting Dukes (6-2).
BU 81, Brown 54 - Christine Kinneary's 18 points lifted the host Terriers (4-4) to a rout of the Bears.
Providence 75, UMass 63 - Stefanie Gerardot scored 16 points and added seven rebounds as the Friars (3-4) handed the Minutewomen (3-4) their first home loss against a nonconference foe in nearly two years.![]()
