Finnegan on mark as Bentley routs Saint Rose

Senior Lew Finnegan shot his way into the Bentley record book in a couple of ways last night in a 78-51 road win over Saint Rose, tying the school mark with eight 3-pointers and becoming the 44th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.

Finnegan was 8 of 14 from long range and finished with a career-high 29 points. His 1,000th point came during a 20-2 run that put the Falcons (7-3, 3-2 Northeast-10) firmly in control in the first half. Finnegan's 3-point total matched the record set by Billy Holden in 1988 and tied by Jamie Baker in 1997. Bentley had 13 3-pointers overall.

Jason Westrol added 21 points and seven rebounds for Bentley. Saint Rose (3-5, 2-4) was led by 19 points from Shea Bromirski, who hit five 3-pointers.

Louisville 78, Lamar 56 - Freshman Samardo Samuels scored 15 points and the ninth-ranked Cardinals (5-1) won their third game in three days to wrap up the Marques Maybin Classic in Louisville, Ky.

Georgetown 100, Savannah St. 38 - DaJuan Summers, Jessie Sapp, and Austin Freeman all had 14 points and the No. 19 Hoyas (6-1) shot 69.8 percent from the field in overwhelming the Tigers (5-4) in Washington for their biggest margin of victory in 19 years.

Maine 67, Colgate 56 - The Black Bears (5-4) got 21 points from Mark Socoby in holding off the Raiders (2-6).

Army 59, Bryant 48 - The Black Knights (2-6) received 11 points apiece from John Moonshower and Jesse Steele and limited the host Bulldogs (1-6) to 20 points before the break.

Southern Maine 61, Maine-Farmington 59 - Andy Tracy's jumper with five seconds left picked up the Huskies (2-6) in Gorham, Maine.

Rutgers 45, Georgia 34
- Epiphanny Prince (14 points) became the sixth-fastest player in school history to reach 1,000 points as the host No. 14 Scarlet Knights (4-2) took advantage of a tired Georgia team, which was playing its seventh game in 13 days and fell to 7-3.

Baylor 83, Lamar 36 - Danielle Wilson (19 points) and the No. 10 Lady Bears (8-1) jumped out to a 24-2 lead in Waco, Texas.

Stony Brook 73, Yale 68 - Melissa Colborne scored 18 of her 24 points after the break for Yale, but the Bulldogs (3-4) still fell to the host Seawolves (1-7).

Sacred Heart 65, Mount St. Mary's 52 - Coach Ed Swanson won his 300th game with the Pioneers (3-5, 2-0 Northeast) as Kaitlin Sowinski finished with 18 points in Fairfield, Conn.

Bentley 66, Saint Rose 58 - Kim Brennan (21 points) and Kristy McLean (16) contributed to a 13-2 second-half run that propelled the visiting Falcons (6-5, 4-2 Northeast-10) to their third straight win.

Trinity 74, Smith 61 - Claire Arnstein's 18 points helped the visiting Bantams (8-0) take control in the second half. It's Trinity's best start since the 1998-99 season.
