Crusaders oust Bucknell
Holy Cross to host semifinal Saturday

Less than a month ago, Bucknell went into the Hart Center and pinned a loss on Holy Cross that severely damaged the Crusaders' chances of gaining the top seed in the Patriot League tournament. When the Bison returned to Worcester last night, Holy Cross put an end to Bucknell's season.
Freshman guard R.J. Evans racked up 31 points as the second-seeded Crusaders rolled to a 75-56 quarterfinal victory, the 12th time the rivals have matched up in the conference tournament. Evans, who shot 12 of 17 from the field, scored 6 straight points early in the second half to give Holy Cross (17-13) a 44-35 lead. Soon after, Andrew Beinert (15 points) canned two consecutive 3-pointers to push the advantage to 50-39.
Bucknell (7-23) suffered its first opening-round loss since 2000. The Crusaders advanced to host sixth-seeded Colgate Saturday. The Red Raiders upset No. 3 seed Navy, 64-59, in overtime.
UMass 77, George Washington 62 - Playing their final game at Mullins Center, seniors Chris Lowe (14 points, 8 assists) and Tony Gaffney (11 points, 10 rebounds) helped the Minutemen secure a berth in next week's Atlantic 10 tournament.
UMass (11-17, 6-9) trailed by 3 at the break but established control with a 10-2 run to start the second half, keyed by a pair of 3-pointers from Ricky Harris, who had a team-best 19 points. Harris finished 5 of 8 from 3-point range.
North Carolina 86, Virginia Tech 78 - At Blacksburg, Va., the second-ranked Tar Heels received 22 points and 15 rebounds from Tyler Hansbrough to stay on track for the ACC title.
North Carolina (26-3, 12-3) leads Duke by one game heading into the rivals' season-ending matchup Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C. Virginia Tech (17-12, 7-8) lost for the fifth time in six games to further damage their hopes of an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Pittsburgh 90, Marquette 75 - The third-ranked Panthers (27-3, 14-3 Big East) won their 20th in a row at home, using 23 points from DeJuan Blair and a 21-2 second-half run to take down the No. 13 Golden Eagles.
Marquette (23-7, 12-5) opened the second half with a 21-5 run that gave them a 57-48 lead but Pittsburgh tied it up with a 9-0 surge, capped by a Blair dunk. Levance Fields (17 points, 10 assists) then directed the rest of the decisive spurt.
Missouri 73, Oklahoma 64 - DeMarre Carroll had 15 points and 10 rebounds, helping the No. 15 Tigers (25-5, 13-3 Big 12) topple the fourth-ranked Sooners (26-4, 12-3) and wrap up a perfect season at home. Oklahoma's Blake Griffin had 16 points and 21 rebounds.
Memphis 69, Houston 60 - The No. 5 Tigers (27-3, 15-0 Conference USA) made it 21 straight wins, getting 23 points from Tyreke Evans in Houston.
Louisville 95, Seton Hall 78 - A career-high 27 points by Earl Clark helped the No. 6 Cardinals (24-5, 15-2) rout the visiting Pirates (15-14, 6-11). Terrence Williams added 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Texas Tech 84, Kansas 65 - The No. 9 Jayhawks (24-6, 13-2 Big 12) couldn't contain Alan Voskuil, who hit nine 3-pointers and had 35 points for the host Red Raiders (13-17, 3-12).
Vanderbilt 75, LSU 67 - A.J. Ogilvy scored a career-high 33 points for the Commodores (18-11, 7-8 SEC), who upset No. 12 LSU (25-5, 13-2) in the Tigers' home finale.
ECAC Div. 3 first round: Rivier (15-12) upset second-seeded Colby-Sawyer, 72-62, in New London, N.H., behind a 20-point, 7-assist outing by Lance Bisson . . . Host Lasell (19-9) needed 30 points from Jose Guitian to put away Salve Regina, 89-84 . . . Travis Suber totaled 34 points as host Becker (20-8) throttled Framingham State, 95-71 . . . Chris Hanson scored 21 points to pace Daniel Webster (18-9) to a 78-58 rout of host Westfield State.
Hartford 57, Vermont 47 - Erica Beverly totaled 16 points to carry the host Hawks (18-10, 13-2 America East) past the Catamounts (17-11, 11-4).
Northeastern 55, Hofstra 51 - Jasmine Crew paced a home win for the Huskies (11-18, 8-10 Colonial Athletic) by recording 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Oklahoma 61, Texas Tech 49 - In her final home game, Courtney Paris had 12 points and 16 rebounds, and the No. 3 Sooners (26-3, 14-1) wrapped up the Big 12 title.
Kansas 69, Baylor 45 - The host Jayhawks (17-11, 6-9 Big 12) knocked off the No. 5 Lady Bears (23-5, 11-4) behind 35 points from Danielle McCray.
ECAC Div. 3 first round: WPI (22-6) had no trouble with Colby-Sawyer, rolling to a 64-44 victory in Worcester behind 18 points from Elle Fontaine . . . MaryLynn Skarzenski led Nichols with 16 points as the Bison (24-4) defeated Plymouth State, 66-54, in Dudley . . . Bri Papa had six 3-pointers and 21 points as Emerson (21-8) eliminated host Endicott, 76-66 . . .
