Bears and Corsairs are KO'd
Mike Campbell scored 24 points and added nine rebounds and all of Farmingdale's starters scored in double digits as the Rams defeated Bridgewater State, 84-64, in the NCAA Division 3 men's sectional semifinal last night in Pomona, N.J.
Bridgewater State (22-7) was led by Rolan Millien, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Rams (27-3), who also got 18 points from Daniel Phillips, outscored the Bears, 46-31, in the second half to cruise into tonight's final against Richard Stockton, which defeated St. Lawrence, 71-68.
DeSales 67, UMass-Dartmouth 59 - Darnell Braswell scored 15 points and the Bulldogs (25-5) outscored the Corsairs (27-4), 20-3, in the final 7:26 for a Division 3 sectional semifinal win in Lancaster, Pa.
Franklin & Marshall 67, Salem State 61 - Clay Scovill paced Franklin & Marshall (25-5) with 15 points as the Diplomats defeated Salem State (23-7), 67-61.
CAA - Brittany Wilson's game-high 19 points led a balanced attack as sixth-seeded Northeastern (12-18) defeated No. 11 Georgia State (12-18), 68-45, in the quarterfinals at Harrisonburg, Va. . . . Jessica Canady had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lift fourth-seeded Old Dominion (17-12) over UNC-Wilmington (16-15), 61-56 . . . Gabriela Marginean had 19 points to spark Drexel (22-8) over Towson (17-13), 53-48. . . Quanitra Hollingsworth had her league-leading 17th double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead second-seeded Virginia Commonwealth (26-5) over William & Mary (14-17), 72-52.
NCAA Division 2 - Kristy McLean had a career-best 27 points, but Bentley (21-12) was eliminated from the East Regional by American International (21-12), 71-59, in Philadelphia . . . Johannah Leedham had a game-high 21 points, including the 2,000th of her career, to lift Franklin Pierce (25-5) over Philadelphia (21-10), 80-62 . . . Kelsey Simonds had 19 points and Bethany Tighe added 13 points to lift Stonehill (21-8) over the College of St. Rose (20-11), 62-58.
NCAA Division 3 - Jessica Chapin scored 17 points and Brandeis got double-figure scoring from all its starters to defeat Muhlenberg, 82-70, in Amherst and move on to the Elite Eight. The Judges (20-7) reached the 20-win plateau for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Mules (26-4) were led by Kelly McKeon, who had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists . . . Shannon Finucane had a game-high 18 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals as Amherst (28-2) beat NYU (23-5), 74-51, to move into the Elite Eight. ![]()
