Olander, Fairfield defeats New Hampshire 58-52

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Ryan Olander scored 19 points to lead Fairfield over New Hampshire 58-52 on Sunday.

Olander was 8 of 11 from the field for the Stags (7-4), who shot 52.6 percent for the game (20 of 38).

Fairfield led 25-19 at halftime, after a poor shooting first half by the Wildcats, who shot just 26.9 percent (7 of 26).

The Wildcats (3-4) improved in the second half to 34.4-percent shooting (11 of 32) but still couldn't overcome the Stags, who were 10 of 19 from the floor in both the first and second halves (52.6 percent).

New Hampshire pulled within six, 47-41, on Ferg Myrick's 3 with 4:55 left. But the Stags then went on a 7-2 run to go up 55-43 on Jamel Fields' free throws with 1:29.

Derek Needham added 15 points for Fairfield, who improved to 8-1 in the series.

Brian Benson led the Wildcats with 11 points.
