Marist nips winless Hartford in double-OT 89-86
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—Isaiah Morton scored 23 points and Marist survived two overtimes to take an 89-86 nonconference victory over winless Hartford Wednesday night.
The Hawks (0-11) trailed 42-29 at halftime but rallied behind Nate Sikma (23 points), Andres Torres (17) and Wes Cole to tie it at 70-all at the end of regulation. Cole hit a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
In the first overtime period, Torres was fouled on a 3-point attempt with a second to play. He hit all three free throws to force a second overtime.
In that extra period, two foul shots with 20 seconds left by Devin Price gave Marist a one-point lead, 87-86. An R.J. Hall steal and subsequent layup clinched it for the Red Foxes (5-6).
Chavaughn Lewis scored 16 points off the bench for Marist. Jamie Schneck had a double-double for Hartford with 16 points and 13 rebounds.![]()
