Vermont beats Albany 50-47 for 9th straight win

ALBANY, N.Y.—Brendan Bald scored 10 points and Sandro Carissimo added nine to help Vermont take down Albany (N.Y.) 50-47 on Wednesday night.

Matt Glass also had nine points and Brian Voelkel added 14 rebounds for the Bobcats.

Albany (16-13, 8-7 American East) took a 37-36 lead with 6:01 left to play behind a Mike Black layup. But Vermont rattled off 10 straight to take a 46-37 lead with only 37 seconds left.

Glass had five points during the run and Carissimo added a 3-pointer and two assists.

The Great Danes roared back to cut the deficit to 48-47 behind a four-point play followed by back-to-back 3-pointers. But Carissimo nailed two free throws with 9 seconds left to seal the win.

Vermont (17-10, 11-2) outshot Albany 43.5 percent (20 of 46) to 36.2 percent (17 of 47) and grabbed six steals.

Black led Albany with 16 points.
