Since dropping a pair of games to Vermont in late November, Boston University has been one of the hottest teams in the country. The third-ranked Terriers ran their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) last night by defeating fifth-ranked Denver, 4-1, in the Wells Fargo Denver Cup.

BU (13-4-1) jumped ahead, 2-0, on first-period goals by Vinny Saponari and Matt Gilroy. After the Pioneers cut the deficit in half late in the second, the Terriers responded a little over a minute later on a Brandon Yip tally.

BU's Kieran Millan made 13 of his 33 saves in the final period, and Zach Cohen tacked on an empty-netter with 1:08 remaining. The Terriers killed off all seven power plays by the Pioneers (13-6-2).

In the third-place game in Denver, Holy Cross (6-11-2) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Rensselaer, 4-3.

Minnesota 3, Northeastern 2 - The No. 4 Golden Gophers (10-3-5) won the championship game of the Dodge Holiday Classic in Minneapolis when Patrick White scored a power-play goal 1:38 into overtime.

The No. 6 Huskies (12-4-2) went ahead, 2-1, midway through the second period on a goal by Tyler McNeely. Aaron Ness tied it for Minnesota at 11:32 of the third.
