Holding a one-goal lead after two periods in Ithaca, N.Y., Harvard’s upset bid fell apart as fifth-ranked Cornell busted loose for four goals to rout the Crimson, 6-3, last night.
Second-period goals by Conor Morrison and Alex Fallstrom gave Harvard (1-2-0, 1-2-0 ECAC) a 3-2 advantage, but the Big Red (3-0-0, 2-0-0) put four of their 10 shots in the third past Crimson goaltender Ryan Carroll. All four goals came within the first 13:29 of the period.
Joe Devin had two scores for Cornell, including the winner. Mike Devin had one goal and three assists.
Yale 3, Union 3 - Kelly Zajac’s second goal gave the host Dutchmen (3-3-3, 0-0-2 ECAC) a 3-1 lead heading into the final period, but Broc Little (8:49) and Sean Backman (19:53) pulled the sixth-ranked Bulldogs (1-1-1, 0-1-1) even.
Quinnipiac 5, St. Lawrence 2 - Reese Rolheiser and Eric Lampe scored 2:11 apart to cap a four-goal second period for the Bobcats (6-1-0, 2-0-0 ECAC) in Hamden, Conn.
Colgate 3, Dartmouth 2 - Brian Day punched in the winner for the host Raiders (4-2-3, 2-0-0 ECAC) at 4:44 of the third. Dustin Walsh and Mark Goggin had their first collegiate goals for the Big Green (0-3-0, 0-3-0).
Rensselaer 3, Brown 1 - The host Engineers (6-3-1, 2-0-0 ECAC) put two power-play goals behind Bears goalie Mike Clemente (25 saves). Devin Timberlake scored for Brown (0-2-1, 0-1-1).
Sacred Heart 5, Holy Cross 4 - Jordan Cyr’s two goals weren’t enough for the Crusaders (3-4-1, 3-2-1 Atlantic Hockey) in Worcester. The Pioneers moved to 3-3-1, 2-1-0.
UConn 4, AIC 1 - Jeff Larson had 11 of his 22 saves in the second period to buoy the host Huskies (2-6-0, 2-3-0 Atlantic Hockey).
Plymouth St. 5, Stonehill 2 - Chris Chambers had a three-point night with a goal and two assists, and the Panthers (2-0-0) won the Becker Ice Breaker tournament in Marlboro.
Becker 3, Suffolk 2 - The Hawks (1-1-0) received a pair of assists from Jim Ceglarek in winning the consolation game in Marlboro.
Nichols 4, Assumption 2 - Matt Sayer had an assist and an empty-net goal to polish off a season-opening win for the Bison in Harrisville, R.I.
Clarkson 3, Dartmouth 1 - Mariel Lacina provided 20 saves, but the Big Green (1-2-1, 1-2-1 ECAC) didn’t give her enough support in a home loss to the second-ranked Golden Knights (11-1-1, 5-0-0).
Quinnipiac 2, Yale 1 - Kate Wheeler assisted on both goals for the Bobcats (5-3-2, 3-0-1 ECAC), who edged the winless Bulldogs in New Haven.
UNH 4, BU 4 - Courtney Birchard’s goal with 54 seconds left in regulation pulled the fourth-ranked Wildcats (8-1-3, 4-0-1 Hockey East) even with the No. 8 Terriers (3-3-5, 1-2-1) in Durham, N.H.
Vermont 5, BC 1 - Emily Walsh had a pair of scores as the Catamounts (5-5-0, 1-3-0 Hockey East) routed the host Eagles (3-3-4, 2-2-1).![]()
