Boston College cruises past Denver 6-2

DENVER—Joe Whitney had a goal and two assists and Boston College goalie John Muse made 27 saves to lead the Eagles to a 6-2 win over Denver Friday.

Leading 1-0 after one period, top-ranked Boston College scored four times in the second to pull away. Cam Atkinson, Tommy Close, Jimmy Hayes and Kevin Hayes had goals against Denver goalie Adam Murray in the period.

Murray stopped 28 shots in the game, eight in the second period.

Luke Salazar scored both goals for the Pioneers, who were outshot 34-29.

Neither team did much on the power play. The Eagles (3-0-0) were 0-for-6 on the power play and Denver (1-1-1) was 0-for-8.
