Seven players found the back of the net to lead the Wildcats to victory at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H.
Kevin Goumas, Dalton Speelman and John Henrion scored in the first period to give UNH (3-4-1, 2-3-0 Hockey East) a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes. The Wildcats broke the game open with goals from Brett Kostolansky, Mike Borisenok, and Stevie Moses in a 5:10 span of the second period.
Conor Sheary had a goal and two assists for UMass (1-4-2, 0-4-2). T.J. Syner and Joel Hanley also scored in defeat.
Matt DiGirolamo made 29 saves for the win.
Northeastern 1, Merrimack 1 - Host Merrimack (6-0-1) jumped to a 1-0 lead on Rhett Bly’s first goal of the year 14:20 into the second period. The Huskies’ Justin Daniels tied the score 57 seconds into the third period with his fifth goal of the season. Chris Rawlings made 34 saves for Northeastern (1-4-2) and Joe Cannata stopped 30 shots for the seventh-ranked Warriors.
Providence 5, Vermont 2 - Special teams keyed the victory for the host Friars. Tim Schaller scored twice on the power play and added a shorthanded goal for Providence (3-3-1, 3-2-0 Hockey East). Connor Brickley and Drew MacKenzie scored for Vermont (1-4-0, 0-3-0).
Dartmouth 5, Quinnipiac 4 - The host Bobcats had a 3-2 lead after two periods before falling to the Big Green. Mark Goggin, Nick Walsh and Tyler Sikura scored in the third period to lead Dartmouth (2-1-0, 1-0-0). Kellen Jones had a goal and two assists for Quinnipiac (7-3-0, 1-1-0).
Colgate 5, Brown 3 - Austin Smith scored two shorthanded goals to lead the Red Raiders to win in Brown’s home opener. Eric Mihalik made 33 saves for Colgate (5-2-1, 1-0-0 ECAC) and Mike Clemente had 20 for Brown (1-2-0, 0-1-1).
Cornell 6, Yale 2 - Joel Lowry had two goals as the Big Red (1-1-0) picked up the victory at Yale (1-1-1). Chad Ziegler and Tommy Fallen scored for the Bulldogs.
Niagara 4, Holy Cross 2 - After spotting visiting Holy Cross (2-3-0) a 2-0 lead after one period on goals from Rob Linsmayer and Adam Schmidt, Niagara (2-3-2) scored twice in the second and twice in the third for the victory.
Women
Northeastern 3, UConn 0 - Kendall Coyne scored twice and added an assist to lead the hosts to the win. Casey Pickett also had a goal. Florence Schelling made 23 saves for the shutout.
Quinnipiac 3, Yale 0 - Jordan Elkins, Regan Boulton and Amanda Colin scored for the host Bobcats (4-5-0, 3-0-0 ECAC). Victoria Vigilanti had 13 saves for the win, while Genny Ladiges made 41 saves in a losing effort for the Bulldogs (0-6-0, 0-3-0).
Princeton 1, Brown 0 - Olivia Mucha scored a power-play goal 6:24 into the second period to give the host Tigers the victory.
Holy Cross 3, Salve Regina 0 - Stacey Hochkins scored twice for the Crusaders.![]()
