As her hockey career at Princeton University comes to a close, Denna Laing is orchestrating a memorable exit.

The two-year captain from Marblehead has been relied upon for four years. But she has never been more effective than now.

"She's been a leader all four years and a captain for the last two, but as it's getting toward the end of her time I can see her rising to the occasion even more with each game," said 18-year Princeton coach Jeff Kampersal, a Beverly native and former standout on the ice at St. John's Prep.

At RPI on Jan. 11, Laing posted the first hat trick of her career, scoring twice in the first 5:37 en route to a 4-4 tie.
