Lisa Andrews scored 18 points to lead a balanced attack, pacing Holy Cross to a 70-53 win over Army that gave coach Bill Gibbons his 400th career victory last night in Worcester.
Nine of 10 players scored as the Crusaders hit 51.7 percent of their shots from the floor. Maggie Fontana had 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals for Holy Cross (7-8, 2-0 Patriot), which finished the game with 21 steals.
Gibbons, already the winningest coach in Holy Cross history, is 400-180 in 20 seasons.
UConn 67, Notre Dame 50 -- Charde Houston had 19 points, Ashley Battle added 15 points, and the No. 16 Huskies held the No. 7 Irish to 29 percent shooting in the second half in South Bend, Ind.
It was Connecticut's first win over a ranked opponent this season and allowed the Huskies (9-4, 3-0 Big East) to avoid consecutive losses for the first time since the final two games of the 1992-93 season.
"For us it was incredibly important at some point we remember what it's like to win a game like this so we could be reminded of who we are. We're Connecticut," said Huskies coach Gene Auriemma said. "Had we lost tonight, we would have taken another hit and it would have been tough to recover."
The Irish (13-3, 2-2) lost back-to-back games for the first time since early last January.
Nebraska 103, Baylor 99 -- Jelena Spiric made all eight of her free throws in the third overtime, Kiera Hardy scored a career-high 37 points, and the host Cornhuskers (11-4, 3-0 Big 12) upset the second-ranked Bears (12-2, 2-1) for Nebraska's first win over a top-five opponent.
UMBC 59, BU 51 -- Brittnie Hughes scored a game-high 16 points and Matea Pender added 12 points and 12 boards to lift the host Retrievers over the Terriers. Rachael Vanderwal led BU (6-6, 1-2 America East) with 15 points.
Northeastern 58, Hartford 51 -- Maralene Zwarich scored 21 points and the host Huskies erased a 5-point halftime deficit to down the Hawks. Francesca Vanin added 11 points and Shalyene Smallwood 10 for NU (6-6, 1-2 America East).
Vermont 85, Stony Brook 75 -- Alexis Castro came off the bench to score 22 points and pull down eight rebounds, powering the host Catamounts past the Seawolves. Lani Boardman added 17 points for Vermont (6-6, 2-1 America East).
Syracuse 72, Providence 51 -- Vaida Sipaviciute scored 14 points to power the host Orange (9-5, 1-2 Big East) past the Friars. Allie Gard led Providence (1-14, 0-4) with 14 points.
