A career performance by senior guard Lucia Pablos helped Northeastern overcome a balanced New Hampshire attack and pick up a 78-71 nonconference victory yesterday at Solomon Court.
Pablos had been in a scoring slump of late, totaling just 14 points on 5-of-23 shooting in the Huskies' three previous games, but she broke out in NU's first home game in nearly a month. Pablos finished with a personal-best 27 points, connecting on 9 of 15 field goals and 7 of 8 free throws. She also had four assists.
Jasmine Crew (11 points) was the only other double-figure scorer for the Huskies (4-4), who turned 20 UNH turnovers into 28 points. Four starters were in double digits for the Wildcats (3-7), led by Denise Beliveau's 22 points and 10 rebounds.
UMass 59, Wagner 50 - At Staten Island, N.Y., Kate Mills had 16 points and Pam Rosanio had 15, including two straight baskets that triggered a game-breaking second-half run for the Minutewomen (5-6).
Stefanie Gerardot was the other offensive cog for UMass with 14 points, including 9 in the first half. Mills and Rosanio also finished with nine rebounds apiece, and Rosanio had five assists.
Salem St. 74, Southern Maine 58 - In a nonconference matchup of two of the top local Division 3 programs, Danielle Jenkins totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds and the host Vikings (7-1) raced to a 35-22 halftime advantage and held off the eighth-ranked Huskies (8-1).
R.I. College 62, Westfield St. 56 - The Anchorwomen (6-4) used 17 points from Sherri Heard and a 17-2 scoring advantage from the foul line in the second half to rally past the Owls (3-6) in Westfield.
Pace 72, Saint Anselm 54 - The host Hawks dropped to 2-4, 1-4 in the Northeast-10, as Stephanie Klingele scored 18 points in the Setters' first victory.
Saint Michael's 59, Goldey-Beacom 56 - Michelle Otey provided 20 points and nine rebounds for the host Purple Knights (7-3).
Plymouth St. 79, Johnson & Wales 76 - At Providence, Amanda Kania supplied 21 points and 16 rebounds to propel the Panthers (5-5).
Texas A&M 62, Auburn 60 - At College Station, Texas, Takia Starks had a game-high 17 points and A'Quonesia Franklin converted a 3-pointer and two free throws in the final 1:35 to help the 12th-ranked Aggies (9-1) get past the No. 14 Tigers (9-1).
West Virginia 93, Presbyterian 26 - Meg Bulger scored 12 of her 19 points early, when the No. 13 Mountaineers (9-1) opened with a 27-6 run in Morgantown, W.Va.
Wyoming 75, Texas Woman's 60 - Jodi Bolerjack and Hanna Zavecz each had 16 points for the No. 24 Cowgirls (9-1) in the Wyoming Shootout in Casper.![]()
