J.T Wyman broke a 2-2 tie with 1 minute 38 seconds remaining in the third period to spark Dartmouth to a 3-2 victory over Boston University last night at Agganis Arena in a game that originally was scheduled for Dec. 13 but was postponed because of inclement weather.
The Terriers (6-11-3) took a 2-1 lead after two periods on goals by Jason Lawrence and Bryan Ewing. But at 7:06 of the third, John Gibson scored to pull the Big Green (7-8-1) even.
Dartmouth's Rob Smith opened the scoring with an unassisted strike at 5:24 of the second.
Mike Devine stopped 31 shots for Dartmouth, while BU's Brett Bennett made 14 saves.
Earlier in the day, BU coach Jack Parker reinstated senior Brian McGuirk as a captain. McGuirk was one of four Terriers suspended Dec. 5 for a violation of team rules and was stripped of his captaincy.
Holy Cross 5, AIC 3 - Senior forward Cal St. Denis broke a 3-3 tie in the third period to propel the visiting Crusaders past the Yellow Jackets.
Freshman goalie Adam Roy had 31 saves for Holy Cross (7-8-6).
Amherst 4, Hamilton 1 - A hat trick by Joel Covelli and 24 saves from Jonathan Larose powered the Lord Jeffs at Clinton, N.Y.
Men's basketball
Michigan St. 66, Ohio St. 60 - Drew Neitzel scored 8 of his 13 points in the first half, helping the No. 11 Spartans beat the Buckeyes at East Lansing, Mich.
The Spartans (15-2, 3-1 Big Ten) led by as many as 21 points in the first half and then fended off a Buckeyes rally in the second half.
Jamar Butler scored 21 points for Ohio State (12-5, 3-2).
Wisconsin 80, Penn St. 55 - Michael Flowers scored 23 points as the No. 17 Badgers (14-2, 4-0 Big Ten) used a stifling man-to-man defense to beat the host Nittany Lions and extend their winning streak to eight games.
Clemson 70, North Carolina St. 54 - Freshman Terrence Oglesby scored all 12 of his points on 3-pointers and Chris Hammond added 14 points as the host No. 24 Tigers (14-3, 2-1 ACC) routed the Wolfpack.
Dartmouth 65, UNH 60 - Alex Barnett hit a jump shot with two seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, and the Big Green went on an 8-1 run in the extra period to beat the host Wildcats.
Williams 75, Lasell 65 - Joe Geoghegan had 21 points and Chris Shalvoy added 20 as the Ephs (13-1) held off the visiting Lasers.
Amherst 73, Elms 67 - Andrew Olson notched his 1,000 career point to help the Lord Jeffs (11-2) triumph in Chicopee.
Women's basketball
UConn 63, Syracuse 59 - Maya Moore scored all 13 of her points in the second half and grabbed 17 rebounds to help the top-ranked Huskies hold off the host Orange.
It was the 29th straight regular-season victory for Connecticut (16-0, 4-0 Big East), but unlike the Huskies' first 15 games of the season it was a struggle to the end. Syracuse (14-3, 2-2) was within a basket with 74 seconds to play before the Huskies sealed it.
Rutgers 57, Georgetown 47 - Essence Carson had 18 points and 10 rebounds and the No. 5 Scarlet Knights held off a second-half rally from their visiting Big East foes.
Charlotte 53, UMass 44 - Traci Ray led the 49ers with 11 points and the Minutewomen shot 27 percent from the field in an Atlantic 10 game in Charlotte, N.C.
Stephanie Gerardot led UMass (8-8, 1-1 A-10) with 14 points.
UMass-Boston 72, Plymouth St. 58 - The host Beacons (6-6) got monster efforts from Caroline Ash (19 points) and Myrna Tangar (12 points, nine rebounds) in a rout of the Panthers.
Bridgewater St. 80, Westfield St. 57 - Colleen Feeney had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lift the Bears to a MASCAC over the host Owls.![]()
