Picco sparks Eagles over James Madison

Boston College's Mickel Picco scored 12 of her 22 points in the last four minutes to lead the Eagles to a 71-63 victory over James Madison in their second game of the Caribbean Challenge yesterday in Cancun, Mexico.
The Eagles upset No. 22-ranked Texas Christian, 77-68, in their opening game Thanksgiving Day and are now 5-1. Picco was 6 for 12 from the field and also had three steals and three assists. Carolyn Swords added 11 points and 13 rebounds and Stefanie Murphy had 12 points and five rebounds.
Dawn Evans led the Dukes (2-2) with a game-high 37 points in a game with nine lead changes in the second half. BC outscored the Dukes, 15-6, in the last four minutes to take control.
TCU 71, Eastern Michigan 55 - Helena Sverrisdottir scored 18 points and the No. 22 Horned Frogs (6-1) recovered from their first loss of the season with a victory over the Eagles (2-4) at the Caribbean Challenge.
Maryland 79, Illinois 52 - Also in Cancun, Marissa Coleman scored 17 points and Lynetta Kizer added 16 to help the No. 10 Terrapins (6-1) top the
North Carolina 98, Pacific 62 - Italee Lucas scored 25 points to help the No. 2-ranked Tar Heels (7-0) rout the Boxers (1-2) in the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas.
Arizona State 80, Hofstra 54 - Briann January scored 19 points and Dymond Simon added 15 to help the No. 21 Sun Devils (3-1) beat the Pride (1-2) in the Junkanoo Jam.
Stanford 78, Purdue 70 - Jayne Appel scored 26 points, including 8 straight in overtime, and had 16 rebounds to lift the No. 5 Cardinal (4-1) over the No. 19 Boilermakers (3-1) in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic in Honolulu. Nnemkadi Ogwumike added 17 points for the Cardinal.
California 68, Texas Tech 54 - Ashley Walker scored 30 points to help the No. 3 Bears (5-0) rout the Lady Raiders (4-2) at the Paradise Jam tournament in St. Thomas.
Baylor 62, Villanova 57 - Jessica Morrow scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half and the No. 6 Bears (6-0) edged the Wildcats (2-3) in the Paradise Jam.
Texas A&M 61, Penn State 57 - Takia Starks scored 20 points and Danielle Gant added 14, leading the No. 8 Aggies (5-0) over the Lions (3-2) in the first round of the Timeout 4 HIV/AIDS tournament in Malibu, Calif.
Duke 59, W. Kentucky 56 - Joy Cheek, in the starting lineup after a knee injury earlier in the week sidelined regular starting point guard Jasmine Thomas, scored 12 points and the No. 12 Blue Devils (4-1) held off the Lady Toppers (3-2) in Bowling Green, Ky.
URI 64, Bryant 57 - Megan Shoniker scored 17 points and the Rams rallied to bring down the Bulldogs in the Rhody Classic in Kingston. Bryant was led by Kelsey O'Keefe, who also had 17 points.![]()
