GREENSBORO, N.C.—Duke's Elizabeth Williams is the Atlantic Coast Conference's rookie of the year in women's basketball.

The ACC announced the award Tuesday following a vote of a panel that included media members and coaches.

Williams led the league with 102 blocked shots and led the regular-season champion Blue Devils with averages of 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds.

She was named the ACC's rookie of the week nine times, matching a league record, and is the third freshman to make the all-ACC first team.

Williams is the third Duke player to win the award and first since Alana Beard in 2001.

She was joined on the ACC's all-freshman team by Clemson guard-forward Nikki Dixon, and three guards -- North Carolina's Brittany Rountree, Maryland's Brene Moseley and Georgia Tech's Sydney Wallace.
