Colby Cohen found the back of the net with 1:06 remaining in overtime to send No. 4 Boston University to a 5-4 Hockey East victory over UMass-Lowell last night at Tsongas Arena.

David Warsofsky had two goals for BU (2-2-0, 1-1-0), including a shorthanded strike in the second period.

Kieran Millan had 32 stops for the Terriers, while Carter Hutton had 23 for the River Hawks (3-2-0, 1-1-0).

Nick Schaus’s goal at 15:47 of the third period sent the game into overtime.

UMass 5, Providence 3 - Martin Nolet scored the tying goal midway through the third period and Brian Keane tallied the winner 22 seconds later as the Minutemen beat the host Friars.

Casey Wellman and Matt Irwin each had a goal and an assist for the No. 17 Minutemen (4-0-0, 3-0-0 Hockey East), while Paul Dainton made 35 saves.

Alex Beaudry had 31 saves for Providence (4-2-0, 0-1-0).

Wisconsin 4, UNH 1 - John Mitchell scored the go-ahead goal in the second period as the No. 19 Badgers (2-2-1) beat the Wildcats (2-3-1) despite a career-high 47-save effort by Brian Foster.

Peter LeBlanc had a shorthanded goal for UNH, which had just 13 shots on goal.

Maine 4, Vermont 1 - Scott Darling made 31 saves and Adam Shemansky scored a pair of goals to lead the Black Bears (2-5-0, 1-2-0 Hockey East) over the No. 10 Catamounts (2-3-0, 1-2-0) at Orono, Maine.

Harvard 5, Dartmouth 3 - Alex Killorn scored two goals and assisted on another, all in the second period, to lead the Crimson past the Big Green in Hanover N.H., in the season opener for both schools.

Princeton 1, Brown 0 - Marc Hagel’s power-play goal 1:16 into overtime lifted the ninth-ranked Tigers over the visiting Bears in the season opener for both teams.

AIC 3, Holy Cross 0 - Freshman Ben Meisner had 30 saves and Josh Froese and Mike McMillan scored first-period goals as the host Yellow Jackets (1-3-0, 1-1-0 Atlantic Hockey) blanked the Crusaders (3-2-0, 2-1-0).

Quinnipiac 5, Robert Morris 0 - Freshman Eric Hartzell stopped 20 shots for his first collegiate shutout and Greg Holt and Scott Zurevinski each had a goal and an assist to power the 18th-ranked Bobcats (4-0-0) to victory in Pittsburgh.

St. Lawrence 6, Sacred Heart 3 - Sophomore defenseman Pete Child notched a hat trick as the Saints (4-2) knocked off the visiting Pioneers (2-2).

Bentley 4, Mercyhurst 2 - The Falcons (2-2-0, 2-0-0 Atlantic Hockey) scored three power-play goals, including the second straight winning goal by freshman Dan Koudys, to beat the visiting Mercyhurst.

Women’s hockey
Harvard 2, Colgate 1 - Leanna Coskren and Anna McDonald scored second-period goals and Christina Kessler made 29 saves as the ninth-ranked Crimson opened their season with a victory in Hamilton, N.Y.

NU 3, Vermont 0 - Alyssa Wohlfeiler, Brittany Esposito, and Kristi Kehoe found the net and Florence Schelling made 24 stops as the visiting Huskies beat the Catamounts.

Football
South Florida 30, West Virginia 19 - B.J. Daniels threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, and the host Bulls (6-2, 2-2 Big East) beat the 20th-ranked Mountaineers (6-2, 2-1) for the third time in four years.

Daniels, who rushed for 104 yards on 14 carries, threw TD passes of 49 yards to Carlton Mitchell, 11 yards to A.J. Love, and 6 yards to Sterling Griffin. Eric Schwartz’s third field goal, a 44-yarder three minutes into the fourth quarter, put the Bulls up, 30-19.

Stonehill 22, Assumption 14 - Eddie Vachon had a 69-yard scoring run and Brendan Gorey hit three field goals as the Skyhawks (4-5, 3-4 Northeast-10) upended the host Greyhounds (5-4, 4-3).
