Some people have questioned Felix Hernandez' Cy Young Award on the basis that he pitched in the AL West and not the vaunted AL East.

OK, in four games against the Yankees and Red Sox, here is what Mr. Hernandez did: 33 1/3 innings pitched, 20 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 9 walks, 40 strikeouts, 4-0 win-loss record.

He also split two decisions with the Orioles. That made him 5-1 against the AL East. They'd better go find another argument.
