The Case for Jackie Bradley Jr.

I admit that I read into things. And when I see something like this in Nick Cafardo’s column this morning, my wheels start spinning:

Was the big pow-wow between general manager Ben Cherington and Jackie Bradley Jr. in the dugout runway Tuesday a sign that Bradley may be going back to Pawtucket when Shane Victorino returns, or was it simply an attaboy for the fine defense the rookie has played and an indication the team was committing to him?

I’m a Bradley guy. I think he should be playing center field for the Red Sox everyday this season. Bradley has already had a significant hand it at least three wins this year – April 3 at Baltimore, April 7 vs. Texas and last night at Chicago – and I simply cannot understand why the Sox would choose to keep Mike Carp on their bench rather than play Bradley everyday.

Anyone else agree? Disagree? I get the whole idea of keeping as many bodies as possible. But isn’t possible that we simply overrate players like Carp?
