Gah
Remember two weeks ago, when everybody was talking about hockey, and what a great game it is, and how the Olympics were showing just that very thing to the world, and how that was going to prompt a resurgence of interest in the sport? Remember all that?
Forget it.
In the ensuing time, the NHL has mused openly about blowing up the Olympic experience entirely. And now, confronted with a blatant and obvious cheap shot from a blatant and obvious thug that was a blatant and obvious attempt to injure Marc Savard, Colin Campbell, the NHL's dean of discipline, seems prepared to take a dive on the whole affair. It's bad enough that Campbell pretty plainly can't tell what he's watching on a video screen three feet from his nose, but what's all that other stuff at the beginning about how we all love rivalries, and how we all like it when there's bad blood between our teams, and on and on? This is the kind of nonsense you expect from the WWE -- not from the man in charge of policing the actions of the players in a putatively major sport. Someone higher up on the NHL chain of command should take Campbell aside and tell him it's time for juice and a nap now and put a grown-up in charge of keeping the players safe. What. A. Maroon.
And if some Bruin is idiot enough to try and "take out" Sidney Crosby in retaliation when Pittsburgh comes to town next Thursday, that Bruin should lose the rest of the season, too. Knock it off, the lot of you.

“Still too early, but I share the concern. Would love to see the eventual second unit guys – Baby, Jeff Green, Arroyo, West and probably Kristic – get to play together. Rondo looks exhausted and it would be helpful if Doc could cut back his minutes.
Also, I strongly suspect there were concerns that Perk was not the same player anymore.”

“Packer was serious about hoops. I knew it was a big game when Musberger/Nantz would call a game with Packer. He was old school so he took delight in fundamentals such as a pick/roll or boxing out a rebounder. I'm still a young kid, but I enjoyed his analysis.”
