The Yankees are going to the playoffs, via the greatest collapse in baseball history.

  1. Guess the NY'ers are tired of wearing the "Greatest Choke Job in the History of Baseball" moniker, and are trying to suggest that we wear soem of that ... uh, no ... but I can get you the number for the Mets if you like

    Just like the 26 series wins, no one can ever take the Big Choke away from them

    What a dolt ...

  1. This guy doesn't probably deserve to be responded to, but I just have to nitpick him a little bit...

    Baseball Prospectus ran through this last year right before the Mets collapsed. If the Sox lost the next 6 games and the Yankees won all of theirs, it would actually be the second worst collapse of its kind in baseball history, not the first. They give the Sox a 1 in 6,579 chance of missing the playoffs. If that happens, that would beat out last year's Mets in 3rd (blew a 1 in 500 shot) but would still still behind the 1995 Angels who were 8,332 to 1 favorites to make the playoffs at one point that year before blowing it.
