You’ve got to love the passion of the Hartford Whalers Booster Club members.
Their sense of reality? Not so much.
The team formerly known as The Whale will be in Boston starting Friday, as the Carolina Hurricanes took care of the New Jersey Devils last night in shocking fashion, netting two late goals in a Game 7 victory. But in a recent New York Times article, booster club president Al Victor discussed the percolating interest in an NHL franchise returning to Hartford.
Although the economy is bad, and Hartford would probably have to build a new arena to lure an existing N.H.L. team or an expansion franchise, Victor said he thought the city’s chances of getting another team were “maybe 70 to 75 percent.” The club’s online petition to build an N.H.L. arena in Hartford has more than 3,000 signatures.
Seventy to 75 percent? Is that Lloyd Christmas math?
On a side note, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that whoever made this masterpiece is a booster member.
