Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady couldn't more different personalities away from the football field. But while the Bledsoe-Brady debate at quarterback is long over, it's pretty clear which one we'd want to hang with away from the game.
A noted outdoor sports lover, Bledsoe speaks to Outside Magazine this month about his new ski company, and unleashes this little gem from his time in New England when it was time to talk contract with the Patriots.
"My second year in the league, I made the mistake of telling [Patriots owner] Bob Kraft that I'd taken my dad heli-skiing during the off-season," Bledsoe says. "So the next time I go to sign a contract, it says I owe the team a bunch of money if I get hurt skiing. Didn't stop me, though. I was able to take out an insurance policy with Lloyd's of London that protected me for 20 ski days. That was some expensive skiing, but it was worth it."
Of course, the retort from a certain sector of Patriots fans would be, "Well, if he put that kind of passion into his football instead of his skiing..." but still, how cool is that? While the laid-back Bledsoe is ripping up powder on Mount Bachelor doing his offseasons, Brady goes all Prince Valiant down a water slide with his world famous model wife.
Like I said, on the field, there's no debate. But who wouldn't want to hang with Bledsoe?
