No word on ‘medical issue’

Confusing evening here at Yankee Stadium.

Sometime this afternoon or evening Curt Schilling left the Stadium with what Sox spokesman John Blake called a “non-pitching-related medical issue he had to have checked out.” There was no word on what that issue was. Several reports indicated he went to a medical facility.

Schilling apparently left the Stadium in a Yankee vehicle wearing his Sox uniform. He was back quickly and on the field during Sox batting practice at 6 p.m.

Coming off the field, Schilling’s teammates tried to keep the media away from him. Keith Foulke set a moving pick on two reporters. Schilling, when someone did get to him, said only: “It’s nothing. I’m fine. It has nothing to do with baseball.”
