Sox, Twins talking again

NASHVILLE – The Red Sox and Twins resumed some semblance of talks early this morning after the Twins had spent much of the night trying to convince the Yankees to give up Ian Kennedy as the third man in the trade proposal that also includes Melky Cabrera and Phillip Hughes.

It was not known at this late hour how frutiful the talks were or whether the Red Sox were willing to budge on their reluctance to give up Jon Lester as well as Jacoby Ellsbury in the deal. There had been talk the Red Sox were looking at Santana’s medicals, but that could not be confirmed early this morning when efforts to reach Theo Epstein were unsuccessful.

It appears that something could be resolved on the New York and Boston fronts today after Hank Steinbrenenr told the New York Times that the Yankees would not relinquish Ian Kennedy in the deal.
